Geoff Trussell
Executive Director of CSI
Geoff Trussell’s vision for CSI grew out of his own research, which examines how coastal ecosystems respond and adapt to multiple stressors, including climate change. He has conducted research in many settings—from rocky intertidal shores, to old fields, to freshwater amphibian communities. His work focuses on the evolutionary and ecological significance of predation risk. Other topics he explores include factors influencing invasive and exotic plant diversity in terrestrial systems, the influence of species diversity on ecosystem function, and the effect of climate change on natural food webs. He regularly collaborates with colleagues at institutions worldwide. A member of Northeastern’s faculty since 2002, he serves as vice president of Northeastern’s Nahant campus operations and chair of the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences.
